Managing Complexity in Digital Education

How can we support developing countries to quickly deploy culturally relevant digital learning environments and empower their teachers to provide equal learning opportunities to all children?
CHALLENGE

Covid-19 left millions of children – especially from marginalized groups – without access to adequate education. UNICEF asked us to support a regional project called LearnIn to create contextualized support systems on inclusive digital teaching practices for 11 countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

OUR APPROACH
  • We conducted a remote needs assessment to capture key pedagogical, EdTech and policy challenges to guide critical decision-making
  • We supported the design and local implementation of an emergency support manual for teachers as well as a series of digital webinars
IMPACT

In just 2 months, the LearnIn Emergency Toolkit and webinars have reached over 700 teacher trainers and policy makers that will further distribute our contribution nationally. Our insights helped to identify and prioritize key levers for change to guide future interventions and local dissemination.

We developed the LearnIn Ecosystem Map that supports critical decision-making by helping to shift perspectives to the needs and behaviours of different key actors and contextualizing them within a wider education system

We supported a team of global experts on inclusive education to design engaging and interactive trainings for education professionals. The trainings were distributed in all of the 11 participating countries.
